North Pittsburgh Telephone Company was a small independent incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) founded in 1906 that served northern Allegheny and southern Butler counties in southwestern Pennsylvania with approximately 71,500 business and residential telephone lines, along with DSL and broadband services. The company operated as part of North Pittsburgh Systems, Inc. (a holding company formed in 1986) until its acquisition by Consolidated Communications in January 2008. It primarily served residential and business customers in rural and suburban areas north of Pittsburgh.
